Hey, hey, hey! Welcome to the Mori Blog, your one-stop shop for the latest Mori Calliope news! Or at least...my opinions on the latest Mori Calliope news!
Guh! It's the first entry!
Only took me about 4 months to finally write it....sigh...
...making a website is hard, okay?
Right. News time.
After Mori's announcement that she was going to be singing the ending theme to then-upcoming anime Suicide Squad Isekai, fans were excited to hear what she had created with loyal producers TeddyLoid and Giga, because, let's face it, I don't think any of us could've managed with repeating that one segment of the teaser with her song on full blast for another 3 months.
Personally, I had been counting down the days until July, because that was when the anime was rumored to be coming out, but, surprise surprise! It premiered on June 27th, with Go-Getters releasing on the same day! As for my verdict on the song...
...well, of course it's a banger! What are you talking about!? Also, to see Waller busting it down in the ED is just...I didn't know I needed that in my life. I don't think many other people did either.
That's right! It's almost time for Mori's 2nd major album release under UMG, Phantomime! And...wow. Sorry to go on a tangent here, but..the album art is so COOL! And not only that, there's two different artworks?! Woah! Mori's really cooking with this one! Not to mention the tracks on this - so far, we know that there are 10 tracks on the album, and that the recent releases of SNEAKING, Go-Getters and Tide are present on this release. Overkill doesn't seem to be a part of the album, presumably because the single was released under COVER's label.
As for the rest of the details...well, there's alot to be said about the title. This is what UMG's press release had to say about it.
"The album title, PHANTOMIME, is a portmanteau of “phantom” and “pantomime,” representing Mori Calliope (the phantom) putting on performances (the pantomime) as a virtual artist. The album conveys a message of living not for others but for oneself and seeking hope even amidst anguish."
Kinda poignant when you think about it....
There are currently 3 editions of the album you can pre-order right now. These are as follows:
Bare-bones package. Exactly what it says on the tin. BUUUTTT..it should be noted that there's still an extra track present on the release! Might be interesting to see what that is!
Although this does say 'limited edition', looking at how the JIGOKU 6 limiteds have sold over the past year, I doubt it will be too hard to find post-release. This version contains the CD (albeit with no bonus track), 3 alternative covers and one folded poster, all situated in frame-style caramel box packaging.
The big one. For 76 dollars, you've just got yourself the following things.
All wrapped up in neat hardbook-style packaging.
So, which version are you guys gonna get? Knowing me, I'll probably just wait it out until it releases (and I finally have the money for it). So stay tuned for the new gummy bear album for PHANTOMIME, landing in stores on November 13th August 16th! And don't forget to stream Go-Getters!
